Elder Law and Probate

Senior citizens face a variety of legal issues, some of which are unique to their age group. Whenever possible, these issues should be addressed as a family. If someone you love is no longer able to care for himself or herself, a guardianship and/or conservatorship can be established to protect and even help preserve his or her assets, and make critical life and health care decisions.

After someone passes, the survivors often lament with some trepidation that the estate must go through "probate". Many people fear probate because it sounds like an intimidating and difficult process. In reality, most probated estates are handled quite efficiently through the Court's fiduciary division without ever appearing before a judge. In some rare cases, however, individuals contest what they did or did not receive under a will; these cases require an experienced litigator to present the facts to a judge. Our firm has extensive experience in all aspects of probate. From providing advice regarding the probate of a "simple" will to litigating a complex "will contest", our firm can advise, assist, and advocate for your needs.
